Luke's shy character started to shatter ever since his "out of body experience" and he talked to the population police like Mr. Talbot had with them before (very sly and convincing), he was truly convincing and put use of all the moments hes heard people lie and trick others around him. He really isn't a fast thinker but comes up with things to support his lies, like when he was trying to explain why Jason (jackle) was knocked out he made a chain of lies which if he said clearly would have been more convincing but he felt as if the nurse was getting suspicious and felt threatened and started to mumble and stutter.
as his shyness kept on going out the window a new luke was born. he wanted to help the boys who were ratted out and to do so he did things that were far from his character. one this he did was when he was stumped he thought of calling jens father (mr.talbot) but he realized that he doesnt have jackle's phone or a phone and mr.talbot's number. with these problems he chose to be daring, he went to the office and he could barely make out the shape of a phone inside the dark empty office and next to it was a file cabinet. he took a book which jackle had ridiculed and after a failed attempt to break a door open he smashed a portion of glass and unlocked the door. after he finds fake records and pictures of him, and mr.talbots number! after calling him at 3am he couldnt rely the intended message so he just feel into depression and panicked
