awesome part of book

the stories developed so much in just a few pages its insane. ill be talking about the story and Luke this week so i can share my excitement and reading. after he meet the other shadow children he found out the origin of the school and the fact that the other shadow children who go to the school and how they find and help them. the reason why everyone was mean and rude was because if they treat the shadow child to nice and something bad happens a word might slip from them saying they are a shadow child.

as the story progresses he gets shown the ropes by one of his own (a shadow child). he starts studying and learning each and everyday absorbing information like a sponge. jackal the shadow children at the boy's section ring leader notices this and tries to sweat talk Luke into not trying since he was a hacker like Jen and could give Luke straight A's and get him into high honers.  this shadow child is the one who came just before Luke but him and another girl Nina from the girls section of the school run the shadow children they found and brought together. the scheme they preached to them is a rebellion like Jen's but more planned.  as i continued to read there can a part where Luke goes looking for the bathroom and stumbles upon jackal speaking on a cell phone, he stands waiting at a corner thinking of how the government can tract the signals given by the phone and wonders when he should pop out and take the phone. in the mist of going to go smack the phone he hears jackal say "i have them fooled they don't know I'm working for the population police...". Luke still in motion goes to smack the phone and crushes it instinctively like he was watching someone else do it. this was way out of Luke's character so he experienced a out of body situation where he is watching himself do these amazing actions like knocking someone unconscious with a book, and trying to tell him self what jackal said was a lie.

in all his usual fear and unease the phone rings and a threat from a population officer is said "if you ever hang up on me again ill kill you and the other shadows!" it was then Luke realized all he was told was a lie, and now he sets off to tell the others.
(books not over i just stopped reading there PS isn't it a awesome cliff hanger for you guys?)

summery of previous book and new blog

[here is the summery to the previous book since you guys said you didn't understand what was going on]

In the setting of the novel, overpopulation has occurred. Because of this, there is far less food and all of it is monitored by the government. Because of the shortage of food, people are only allowed to have two children. Luke Garner, a twelve-year-old child, lives on a farm with his mother, father, and two brothers, Matthew and Mark. As a third child, Luke and his parents are in violation of the law. Luke, like all third children, must spend his days hidden or away from public view. When the government starts building houses in the woods behind the Garners' house, Luke is forced to hide inside his house, in total isolation from the outside world. In the beginning of the story, Luke is quite scared of being caught by the Population Police. But toward the end of the story, he becomes more brave and faces his fears, the Population Police.
While Luke is looking out of a small vent from the attic, with which he can see outside, and not be seen from the outside, he sees the face of a child in a window of a house that he knows already has two children. He secretly runs over to the house about a month later, and meets twelve-year-old Jen Talbot, the daughter of one of the Barons living in the houses behind him and another third child. There he becomes a close friend to Jen Talbot.
Jen begins to show Luke that what the government has done is wrong. She organizes a rally in support of the third children, and asks Luke to come, but Luke refuses, afraid of what might happen. After not hearing from Jen for one week, Luke runs over to her house, where he meets Jen's father, George Talbot, a Population Police official. Luke finds out that everyone at the rally was shot and killed, including Jen. Mr. Talbot explains to Luke that he opposes the Population Law. The Population Police then break in to Mr. Talbot's house and Luke hides in the closet.
After the police leave, Luke tries to talk, but Mr. Talbot covers his mouth. He writes on a piece of paper that the Population Police had placed listening devices and are listening for clues and evidence. He then writes to Luke and asks if he wants a fake I.D to live like a real person. Luke eventually accepts the proposal and gets the fake I.D. Mr. Talbot meets Luke's parents and gives it to him. Luke's new identity is Lee Grant, a wealthy boy that supposedly ran away from his family and took refuge at Luke's farm and is now being sent to a year-long boarding school as punishment. (The real Lee Grant was killed in a ski accident; his parents allowed Luke to assume his identity.) He then goes off in a very nice car with Mr. Talbot, his first car ride, ever. He sets off on his new journey to finally live his life.

[here is this weeks blog]

In this weeks blog ill be talking about the general setting of the story and how the things in the setting make up the story. The setting seems to be between 1950's and early 1990's, i'm not really sure of it myself but it seems since only fortunate people could afford televisions. The schooling systems in the book are usually describes as either illegal home schooling to the third plus child(ren), public where they can go back and fourth from home to school, and boarding schools; no private school are indicated so its most likely assumed that the fiction part of this book clashes with the time and real world historical facts.

The new setting unlike the previous book is in a prestigious boarding school where i'm not entirely sure if its mix gender, though there are girls who show up around the middle of the book itself. The girls mentioned in the first part play a important role i'm guessing since the might be third plus children like luke (haven't read far enough to know). The woods luke goes to frequently play a large role since he takes that as his home far from home and his personality changes when his garden he was working on is destroyed by a unknown group or person. These woods are also the place where he meets the suspected unknown children and ease drops on their conversation.

(sorry again if i did it wrong but please point out my mistakes and ill work on them for future blogs)

Lee otherwise known as Luke Garner, is a young man whom until recently was a “illegal”. A illegal in this story is a cat dog or any third plus child; they have this rule because in this fiction the population is to great and rations aren’t enough to uphold the whole population if it keeps growing. His character is that of a supporting character in the beginning since he was just pushed around or had to be told how to act. Even though he was considered a legal child he still kept a fear and sadness for he missed his real family, no matter his yearning to go to school his fear overcame his desire and was too great to bring a happy moment for him to relax.
As the story progresses he is bullied by his roommates and feels hurt but looks forward to change and adaption to his new scenario, though he still acts cautious for there might be bugs planted with the school which if discovered means his death. With a note from mr. Talbot which just said “blend in” he had lost his hope for most part, but stuck to the words he was given as held a bitter side for them. Trying to be daring he observes his roommates (and school building), but in fear they may look back he keeps to himself since his heart wasn’t ready to truly confront people outside of the 6 he knows.
The woods were the only thing bringing him closer to his home which he missed dearly even though he had to hide his whole life. He went there weekly in secret and tried to escape into his world of thought and plan to escape his school. But one day to his amazement he found a group of illegal children like him and thought he was suspected he found piece within there ranks because he had lost jen and being with them replaced his sadness.

if i did it wrong i can do it again...
